That’s it for now. Next edition: Monday, October the 8th. You can submit your writing here

The First Social Skills Blog Carnival

I got what I think is a pretty decent turnout for a first blog carnival. Some good articles in the submissions as well.

I’m not going to publish several of the submissions though. Many were on personal development topics that were related to social skills only in the most loose, general sense. I made a call to only include articles that are directly related to people skills. If you made a submission that didn’t get published, feel free to try a more focused article from your site for next time:
On to the submissions, roughly in order I received them:

General Social Skills:

Scott H. Young presents The Critical 7 Rules To Understand People

The Urban Monk presents The lost art of touching, Part 1: Caring, Healing, and Sexual

Alex Shalman.com presents Proactive Listening Should Be Your First Social Skill

Don’t Be Shy presents Stop Avoiding What You Want

The Positivity Blog presents Focus Outward to Win Friends and Improve your People Skills

Nerd Guru presents Who’s in charge? Understanding group dynamics

Nikki presents a video post on How to Not Suck at Socializing

Networking / work:

Edith Yeung presents The 7 Rules of Networking Made Easy

Outfit Inspirations presents How To Be Remembered Once the Lights Go Out

That’s it for this one. The next edition will be out on…let’s say…Monday the 24th.

Social Skills Blog Carnival coming soon

I find good articles on social skills few and far between. For one, a lot of them seem to feature the same six ideas over and over. Secondly, in the area of “Personal Development”, this topic seems to get much less attention than others. For every ten articles on how to organize your time, you’ll get one on interpersonal skills.

So I’ve decided to host a blog carnival featuring articles only on social skills. That should be a good way to pull all the good content on this subject together.

If you’re not familiar with blog carnivals, basically they’re blog posts that feature links to a bunch of submitted articles on a particular topic. Usually new editions come out every week or two.

There’s more info on blog carnivals here

If you have your own blog, and want to submit an article on people skills to possibly be included in the first edition, you can submit it here

The deadline for submissions is Friday, September the 7th. The first edition will be out on the following Monday.
